AASU MISSION
The African American Student Union is committed to fostering a welcoming community for Black students at HBS of all backgrounds, origins, and identities, while equipping members with the tools to thrive mentally, academically, socially, and professionally and to become future leaders who make a positive impact in business and society.
AASU INITIATIVES
The AASU Leadership Team plans year-round for the academic, professional, and social engagement of our student body. Through flagship events such as our annual H. Naylor Fitzhugh Conference and Fall Retreat, along with mentorship, community initiatives, and community-building programming, we support Black students throughout their entire HBS experience:
Support academic success by organizing midterm and final review sessions and facilitating engagement with Black faculty
Host flagship programming, including the annual H. Naylor Fitzhugh Conference, bringing together students, alumni, and leaders from business, culture, and beyond
Advance career development through industry roundtables, alumni speaker events, mentorship opportunities, and access to a Black alumni network
Build community through year-round small group and school-wide social events, retreats, trips, and shared experiences across classes
Strengthen the admissions pipeline by supporting prospective students through webinars, interview prep, Admit Weekend programming, and undergraduate outreach
Engage alumni through ongoing programming, mentorship, speaking opportunities, and long-term relationship-building
Partner with external organizations to fund and scale programming through sponsorships and corporate relationships
Serve the broader community by organizing volunteer and service initiatives in the Boston area
Maintain communication and visibility through newsletters, digital content, branding, and merchandise
